Onstream Partners with ClearScale on ‘Mesosphere,’ a Cloud-based Device Intelligence Framework
RENO, Nev. (PRWEB) August 19, 2015 -- Onstream, a device intelligence company, has partnered with ClearScale, an industry leader in cloud integration, to create a highly robust and scalable cloud implementation of Onstream’s framework labeled Mesosphere.
Onstream’s technology transforms connected devices into smart devices. The Nevada-based technology company, backed by $2 million in funding from Traynor Family Enterprise, shortens the time from connectivity to action by transforming raw data streams into useful information as soon as data leaves the device. For companies wanting to do more than just product monitoring and data analysis, Onstream provides simple visual tools to quickly and cost-effectively develop intelligent products that change device behavior in response to things happening near the device, far from the device, or wherever. Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) can extend Onstream’s framework to their customers, allowing end users to tailor responsive product behavior to their specific needs. Onstream’s framework enables the introduction, management, and distribution of new product features and capabilities to connected devices.
Onstream partnered with ClearScale, an Amazon Web Services Premier Consulting Partner that has worked with clients like Samsung, Aetna and Shinola Detroit, to create the cloud integration using container technology from Docker, open source Samza data stream processing and Amazon EC2 Container Service.
Development was challenging because of the flexibility, scalability and large-scale data processing required by the framework. From the project outset, the team used Docker to containerize application APIs, web apps, and data processing clusters. Amazon EC2 Container Service enabled automated deployment and configuration of components within a distributed system.
Onstream and ClearScale chose the open source Apache Samza stream processing framework from the Apache Software Foundation for its ability to continuously compute results as data arrives, making the framework’s low-latency response times possible.

They wanted to use the best technology to achieve low latency and fast processing for their new framework,” said Pavel Pragin, CEO of ClearScale. “Amazon EC2 Container Service (ECS) had just been made generally available, and Onstream was an early adopter. ECS has been instrumental in automating the deployment of Docker containers.”
ClearScale’s build-out of the cloud infrastructure for Onstream’s framework allowed the company to fully focus on its core framework development, which launched at the IoT Evolution Conference and Expo in Las Vegas on August 17. The Onstream technology has already been deployed by select clients, including Cirrus Systems, a mining solutions provider.
