Open to the Public: New Energy Works Timberframers Raising of the Timber Frame for a Cayuga Lake Home
FARMINGTON, N.Y. (PRWEB) November 15, 2017 -- On November 21 and 22, 2017 the public is invited to observe as the custom timber frame for a family lake home on Cayuga Lake in Union Springs, New York is raised by New Energy Works Timberframers. The company designed, engineered, and crafted the frame using heavy Douglas fir timbers with traditional mortise and tenon joinery. During the raising, seasoned craftsmen will drive hardwood pegs through each joint connecting all parts of the frame.
"Timber frame raisings offer a chance to witness the culmination of months of effort and planning. Watching huge, hand-joined timber trusses 'fly' into place is an event to be remembered," shared Eric Fraser, New Energy Works Timber Frame Manager.
Intended to be a multi-generational vacation home, the raising will take place on a special spot on Cayuga Lake in NY that is not only flat, but includes a point, known locally as Allen’s Point. The New Energy Works in-house architects took special focus on how the homeowners would entertain family and friends in their new home. The team employed a modified “L” shape for the structure, creating separation of public and private spaces. Other features will include a stone wall connecting the north and south ends of the home/property, a huge 2′ threshold into the entertainment areas, deliberate routes in and out of the home to the lake, and a continuous wrap-around porch.
