Opportunities to Play College Sports in The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA)
Kansas City, MO (PRWEB) April 29, 2015 -- Each year almost 8 million high school students participate in sports. Only 8% will go on to play in college but 70% of those students, including the more than 65,000 student-athletes in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA), play at smaller colleges and universities. NAIA college athletics programs are dedicated to student-centric, character-driven athletics with recruiting rules that put the student first. That’s why the NAIA is the only college athletics association that offers official NAIA Sports Showcases where prospective students can connect with NAIA coaches and learn about the $500 million in scholarship opportunities.
NAIA Showcase events allow student-athletes to display their skills on the field and engage with coaches free of cumbersome rules, allowing both students and coaches to find the right fit for both academics and athletics interests. During this one-day, one-stop event in front of NAIA Coaches, participants and parents have the opportunity to learn about the NAIA, recruiting and eligibility rules, connect with NAIA coaches and learn about scholarships available through its member institutions. This second series of NAIA Sports Showcases, presented by the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA), will be held at venues in the Kansas City metro area in June and July 2015.
The 2015 NAIA Showcase series includes nine half-day events for baseball, men’s and women’s basketball, football, men’s and women’s soccer and softball. Men’s and women’s lacrosse will be held in the St. Louis metro area. Prospective student-athletes will test their individual skills with sport-specific performance drills developed by NAIA coaches.
Last year’s inaugural NAIA Sports Showcase held in East Peoria, Ill., helped high school juniors, seniors, and junior college student athletes connect with athletic programs at 53 NAIA schools. The three-day, multi-sport event hosted more than 330 prospective student-athletes from 14 states, 400 parents, and 71 coaches.
