Optimum WiFi Now Available at 100,000 Hotspots in Tri-State Area
Bethpage, N.Y. (PRWEB) September 03, 2013 -- Cablevision Systems Corp. today announced that Optimum WiFi has increased its coverage to 100,000 hotspots in the Tri-State Area. All Optimum Online customers have free access to Optimum WiFi as part of their broadband service, giving them two networks – both inside and outside the home - for the price of one.
“More than one million of our broadband customers are using Optimum WiFi, providing them with the maximum connectivity that today’s digital lifestyle demands,” said Gemma Toner, Cablevision’s senior vice president of broadband product management. “Not only is Optimum WiFi incredibly fast and reliable, but our customers can connect their mobile devices to our hotspots when they are out and about to avoid the significant overage fees that are common to so many cellular data plans.”
Optimum continues to enhance and expand its WiFi experience for customers. Earlier this summer, Optimum announced a partnership with New York City and Time Warner Cable to launch public WiFi in 32 parks across the five boroughs. Additionally, in June Optimum reached an agreement with NJ Transit to provide Optimum WiFi in the agency’s railway stations and trains. Apart from extending its WiFi coverage, Optimum recently increased broadband speeds across-the-board for residential and business customers.
Optimum is also a member of CableWiFi™, a collaboration among five U.S. internet service providers that allows subscribers of the participating companies to access each other’s WiFi networks. Through this initiative, Optimum customers traveling outside of the company’s service area can connect to any “CableWiFi” hotspot using their Optimum ID and password.
Optimum WiFi hotspots are easy to locate using the Optimum WiFi Finder app. Customers can then sign in using their Optimum ID and password and can select the convenient “Automatic Sign In” feature if they’d like to connect to hotspots without re-entering their log-in information.
