Orbotech Introduces New Automated Optical Inspection System for Touch Screen Production
(PRWEB) November 25, 2013 -- Orbotech Ltd., a leading global supplier of digital yield-enhancement and production solutions for the electronics industry, today announced the introduction of its new Orbotech AOI™ 1500 Automated Optical Inspection (AOI) system for mass production.
“The use of touch screens is rapidly increasing as a growing number of OEMs are adding touch capabilities to improve the user interface experience on today’s electronic devices”, said Mr. Richard Klapholz, Executive Vice President for Strategy and Business Development. “To meet this demand, touch sensor makers must support multiple structures, while still maintaining high yield and productivity. The defect information provided by the Orbotech AOI 1500 helps touch sensor manufacturers improve their production process, send the touch panel for rework early on in the manufacturing process, and increase yields.”
Unlike electrical testing that detects opens and shorts at the final stage of production, Orbotech AOI 1500 inspects and detects scratches and design rule violations, points out their location, quantifies and characterizes defects throughout the production process. Featuring Multi-Image Technology™ with specially-designed illumination and a unique table for handling thin film ITO and glass panels, the system accurately detects critical defects down to 15μm. Orbotech AOI 1500 enables high speed inspection on complex applications to meet manufacturers’ cost, quality and time-to-market challenges.
