Organ Music Festival to Take Place in Sochi
(PRWEB) July 10, 2013 -- The XIV Festival of Organ Music will take place in Sochi from July 14 to August 18, 2013, as part of the Sochi 2014 Cultural Olympiad. The festival will introduce listeners to performances by musicians from various countries including Russia, Ukraine, Italy, Poland, and Germany.
The vibrant "Window to Paris" concert will kick off the festival in the Sochi Organ & Chamber Music Hall on July 14 at 17:00. The program will include music by French composers for organ and piano, as well as vocal compositions. Performers include the distinguished Lyudmila Golub from Russia (organ, Moscow), Valeria Anfinogenova (piano, Sochi), and Ekaterina Bogacheva (soprano, Sochi).
Saint Petersburg native Alexander Novoselov, a young organist debuting at the festival, will be performing with Liana Msrlyan (soprano), leading soloist at the Sochi Philharmonic. Krasnodar organist Mikhail Pavaliy will take to the stage in an ensemble with cellist Vladimir Shokhov, soloist at the Sochi Philharmonic.
An outstanding trio from Sochi's twin town of Baden-Baden, Germany, will also be performing at the festival. Uwe Zerr (organ), Holger Bonner (trumpet), and Diana-Marina Fischer (soprano) will create a unique mix: the sounds of a trumpet with its silvery tone as well as vocals will be added to the organ.
The Festival will include yet another debuting artist – organist Maurizio Carazzo arriving from Rome. Visitors will also be able to hear Witold Zalewski, an amazing organist from Krakow and a world-renowned master, one of the best performers of music from the Romantic Period.
The festival will conclude on August 18 with a concert by the Sochi Symphony Orchestra and the Ukrainian organist Nadezhda Yuriychuk, soloist at the Dnepropetrovsk House of Music.
Concerts begin at 17:00.

The fourth year of the Sochi 2014 Cultural Olympiad is devoted to museums. Just as in previous years, the organizers of the first ever Winter Games in Russia's history will be presenting hundreds of top cultural events and musical projects to the public.
The Sochi 2014 Cultural Olympiad is a unique project from the organizers of the Games, presenting the country's foremost cultural events. In 2014, visitors to the Olympic host city will not only be able to evaluate the sporting competitions, but also Russia's cultural diversity at dozens of performance venues located in Sochi and Krasnaya Polyana. Since 2010, the Sochi 2014 Organizing Committee, along with dozens of regions around the country, has been carefully selecting the best that Russian culture has to offer.
Between 2010 and 2014, thousands of diverse cultural events are going to take place throughout the entire country. Each year, the Cultural Olympiad is dedicated to a different art form: 2010 was the Year of the Cinema, 2011 - the Year of the Theater, 2012 - the Year of Music, and 2013 is the Year of the Museum.
The nationwide scope of the project will mean that everyone in the country is able to take part in this grand cultural celebration, thereby preserving and propagating our country's cultural riches.
