OSHA Pros Announces Changes to 30, 10 Hour Training Program - Student Identification for OSHA Online Training and On Site Training Under Scrutiny
Richardson, TX (PRWEB) July 22, 2013 -- The Occupational Safety and Health Administration, OSHA, which oversees the OSHA 10-hour and 30-hour training programs, has recently updated the Outreach Training Program requirements.
In addition to changing some of the rules governing which classes an OSHA-authorized instructor can teach and how exceptions to training rules can be approved, the new regulations endeavor to apply a higher standard to the verification of student identities.
“OSHA wants to encourage trainers to make more of an effort to insure that the student they are teaching is not attending under a false identity,” according to William Mizel, CSP, President of OSHA Pros, LP, a national OSHA training company. He continued “trainers now must employ every reasonable effort to ensure that each individual attending their training is using a legitimate ID.”
Mr. Mizel explained that the new rules go beyond merely verifying identification. “OSHA has made it the trainer’s responsibility to review documentation not only that the student is who they say they are, but also that they attended every day of training and that they complied with requirements for any make-up training that was necessary to finish the course. Trainers are required to retain these records for at least 5 years.”
