Ostendorf-Morris Secures Exclusive Leasing Assignment on Historic Downtown Berlin Building
Cleveland, OH (PRWEB) July 31, 2013 -- Commercial real estate company Ostendorf-Morris (http://www.ostendorf-morris.com) is pleased to announce a major leasing exclusive of the Building Berlin in downtown Berlin, Germany. The company’s Corporate Services has received sole leasing rights to this corporate headquarters office building. A one of a kind construction, Building Berlin consists of two sections. The original part was built in 1877 and then a modern steel and glass façade was attached in 2000. Ostendorf-Morris’s exclusive engagement of this property allows the company to extend its global commercial real estate expertise.
During World War II, the city of Berlin was subject to 363 air raids. That bombing left much of the downtown in shambles. Indeed, the New York Times reported in 1977 that “The war left the city in ruins, with 80 percent of its housing and public buildings damaged or destroyed.”
The Battle of Berlin in November 1943 was particularly destructive to the city. Royal Air Force journals detail the Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church, the British, French, Italian and Japanese embassies, the Charlottenburg Palace, the Berlin Zoo, the Ministry of Munitions, the Waffen SS Administrative College, the barracks of the Imperial Guard at Spandau and several arms factories as among the buildings of note that suffered wreckage.
Commercial real estate company Ostendorf-Morris has just secured an exclusive listing on one of the historic buildings that managed to survive all this destruction. The Building Berlin, the name the listing bears, is located in the heart of Berlin on Franzosische Strasse. Situated within the same block are the Rocco Forte Hotel de Rome, St. Hedwig’s Cathedral and the French Cathedral.
The Building Berlin is a corporate flagship office of 124,000 sq. ft. (11,500 sq. m) that was built in 1877. Its historic foundations remain fully intact with a modern glass-roofed event space being added to the façade in 2000. It also offers a high-end fit out and proprietary underground parking as part of the leasing agreement.
“We are thrilled to have scored a major leasing exclusive on the Building Berlin. This opportunity really allows us to extend our global reach,” explains Ostendorf-Morris’s spokesperson. “This corporate headquarters office building harbors so much history within its walls. What’s more, its prominent location in downtown Berlin, Germany is an enviable one. Whoever lands the leasing contract on this building will not be disappointed.”
