Oswego County, NY Begins E-recording with Simplifile
OSWEGO COUNTY, N.Y. (PRWEB) February 14, 2015 -- The Oswego County Clerk’s office has implemented electronic recording (e-recording) of documents and land records with Simplifile, the nation’s largest e-recording service, providing customers with a faster, more cost-effective document recording method.
“Oswego County is excited to have begun e-recording and we look forward to continuing to find ways to streamline our services and cut costs for our taxpayers,” said Oswego County Clerk Michael C. Backus.
With e-recording now available, the county’s customers including title companies, banks, attorneys, and other document submitters will have the ability to electronically prepare, scan, or upload and submit documents to the clerk’s office for recording through Simplifile’s secure, web-based service.
“Instead of having to drive to the clerk’s office to walk-in documents or send a document by mail, customers will be able to have their documents stamped, recorded and returned from the clerk’s office in a matter of minutes,” said Paul Clifford, president of Simplifile. “It’s faster, more convenient, and allows customers to retain control of their original documents.”
Recording fees and payments can also be processed electronically through Simplifile using Automated Clearing House, eliminating check-writing expenses.
Increased document security, fewer payment errors, and less overall paper waste are also some of the added benefits of e-recording.
High-speed Internet access, a PC, and a scanner are the minimum requirements for customers to begin e-recording with Simplifile.
With the addition of Oswego County, more than 25 e-recording counties are available in New York in addition to more than 1,185 recording jurisdictions nationwide that e-record with Simplifile.
