Out Now: MaRLo’s “The Launch” (Reaching Altitude)

MaRLo’s unique “tech energy” sound has catapulted him onto the world stage at mega-festivals including Electric Daisy Carnival (EDC) Las Vegas and Dreamstate, the latter featuring MaRLo this November 24th. At long last, MaRLo announces the launch of his very own record label, Reaching Altitude, currently operating under the Armada Music umbrella. “The Launch” is the first official single from Reaching Altitude and it’s out now.
A rapid-fire succession of kick-drums forms the foundation of the Original Mix of “The Launch” with its scorching chord progression and sinister tone. The central motif of the track arrives during the breakdown as sonic bursts of mainstage-friendly synths stack slices of aural euphoria high. A vibe of foreboding shrouds the single’s initial mystique before building to a thunderous drop that causes crowds to erupt in ecstasy. The Radio Edit wastes no time, its breakdown coming just 15-seconds into this tight package.
As a new record label, Reaching Altitude will showcase music by MaRLo and others, with MaRLo himself serving as label chief and head of A&R. The imprint is named after MaRLo’s ‘Altitude’ series of hours-long concerts exclusively showcasing his own music accompanied by live musicians, dancers and a range of custom-designed visuals. MaRLo’s ‘Altitude Tour’ sold-out consistently in 2016 and earlier this year when the tour played in Australia and Asia.
MaRLo (real name: Marlo Hoogstraten) is a Dutch-born electronic dance music producer from Australia. His unique style – affectionately dubbed “The MaRLo Sound” – derives from the sub-genres of tech-trance, hard-trance and the big room sound. MaRLo considers as his musical influencers such accomplished fellow DJs and producers as Armin van Buuren, Aphex Twin and The Prodigy. In the recording studio, MaRLo has lent his magic touch to remixes for fellow trance heavyweights, Armin, Dash Berlin, Ferry Corsten, W&W and Gareth Emery, among many others. As a live performer, MaRLo delivers explosive physical energy and showmanship. MaRLo is best known for his international hits, “Haunted” featuring his wife, the vocalist Jano, and “Atlantis,” the latter peaking at the #1 chart position on Beatport last year. MaRLo’s signature track is still relevant today, his monster hit from 2012, “Visions,” and crowds erupt whenever he plays it now. As Armin himself remarked, “MaRLo knows how to program the best lead sounds.”
