Out to Pasture: Seeking Lost Sheep
Charlotte, N.C. (PRWEB) March 18, 2014 -- The current trend in the Christian religion is seemingly on reaching the masses, baptizing the multitudes and filling massive buildings. The aptly named “megachurch movement” has consequently shifted away from what one former pastor said is the most central theme in the gospel message.
In Dr. Ronny Russell’s new book, “The ONE,” he expounds on the Bible’s Luke 15 and the common theme of God’s relentless search for lost souls. Instead of trying to keep church membership up, he hopes to focus on reaching those far from the Sunday service crowd.
Russell said, “As a pastor I was under constant pressure to perform for and cater to the ’99 in good pasture,’ leaving little time and energy for the one lost sheep who had wandered away.”
He thinks church leadership should take direction from Jesus’ own words, I’m here to invite outsiders, not coddle insiders: Matthew 9:13.
