Ovarian Cancer Survivor Jill Pall Continues Fundraising Efforts to Help Kicking For The Dream Fight Ovarian Cancer
Phoenix, AZ (PRWEB) November 21, 2013 -- With only 39 days left in its fundraising campaign, ovarian cancer survivor Jill Pall continues her outstanding fundraising effort to help Kicking For The Dream raise money to fight ovarian cancer, according to Kicking For The Dream founder NFL kicker Billy Cundiff.
"Jill is amazing! Her story is so inspirational - she is a true teal warrior," says Cundiff. "We are so blessed to have her participation in Kicking For The Dream and her support of Colleen's Dream. Jill is competing for the top fundraiser spot in our Kicking For The Dream project. We are blown away by her effort and enthusiasm."

Pall, a development director for a non-profit in New Jersey, has joined kicking specialists such as Morten Anderson, Matt Stover and Nick Novak in raising awareness and money for Kicking For The Dream’s effort to fight ovarian cancer.
Pall says as an ovarian cancer survivor, helping to fight the disease is personal. She adds that considering the current tools available to diagnose ovarian cancer, and considering her first “diagnosis,” she is lucky to be alive.
“I am an ovarian cancer survivor who fought the disease for over seven years,” says Pall. “I had presented to a gynecologist with all of the symptoms of ovarian cancer but was told I was fine and my pain was normal. In fact, the doctor told me to take over the counter pain medication and to come back in a year. Had I listened to her instead of going to the hospital, I probably would not have survived my cancer.”
Because of this experience, Pall says she knew she had to do something to make sure other women didn’t have a similar experience; or perhaps an even worse one. So Pall, who had been in non-profit work for over a decade but had never sought out an ovarian cancer project to fundraise for, looked for an ovarian cancer project she felt was making a difference.
Pall says she heard about Kicking For The Dream through social media. She said even though Kicking For The Dream was created as a way to united “kicking specialists” to fight ovarian cancer, she saw it as a way to do fundraising for Colleen’s Dream Foundation which is the recipient of all the money raised by Kicking For The Dream.
“Although Kicking For The Dream focuses on “kicking specialists” I wanted to raise money to fund an ovarian cancer research grant through Colleen’s Dream Foundation,” says Pall. “Though, I figured I should learn how to kick so that I would be legit.”
Pall is getting kicking lessons from her father and you can view Pall’s “first" attempt at kicking a football here.
With over 40 days remaining in the Kicking For The Dream fundraising campaign, Pall has already raised over $5,000 of her $10,000 fundraising goal. She says the money she raises will go to fund an ovarian cancer “early detection” project.
“I’ve designated my fundraising efforts to go to a young investigator’s early detection research project at Memorial Sloan Kettering after reading the abstract written by Dr. Vance Broach,” says Pall. “I am about halfway to my Kicking for the Dream fundraising goal of $10,000 (the cost of the research grant).”
“My goal is to make sure everyone I know is aware of the symptoms of ovarian cancer and that they spread awareness among their network,” she says. “Together, we can change the statistics of ovarian cancer. I truly believe that this project will help the future of ovarian cancer research and treatment, and I felt this way the moment I read about the study.”

About Kicking For The Dream:
Billy Cundiff, who is the kicker for the Cleveland Browns, and has been an NFL kicker for over 10 years for teams such as the Cowboys, Saints, Ravens and Redskins, launched Kicking For The Dream in May of 2013, as an effort to support Colleen’s Dream Foundation, a foundation which raises money to support research for the early detection of, and improved treatment for, ovarian cancer.
About Colleen's Dream Foundation:
Colleen’s Dream Foundation started in 2012 and supports research for early detection and improved treatment for ovarian cancer.
The story of Colleen’s Dream started in 2007 when Billy Cundiff’s mother-in-law, Colleen Drury, was diagnosed with late-stage ovarian cancer. It was only then that Colleen and her family realized a new world that was filled with invasive surgery, harsh chemotherapy, and lots of uncertainty.
Colleen’s Dream Foundation believes it is important to raise money for research that will lead to reliable early detection testing and improved treatment for ovarian cancer. Because so little is known about ovarian cancer in proportion to other women’s health issues, we have an incredible opportunity for research and education.
Colleen’s Dream is working with some of the top research hospitals and universities that are researching ovarian cancer. By offering seed funding to young investigators, the Foundation funds cutting-edge research by some of the brightest, young minds in the world.
Colleen’s Dream Foundation is a qualified 501 (c) (3) tax exempt non-profit organization based in Phoenix, Arizona.
