Over 575,000 Couples in the United States Expected to Get Engaged This Holiday Season
Las Vegas, Nevada (PRWEB) December 10, 2015 -- Chapel of the Flowers today announced that over 575,000 couples in the United States will get engaged during the weeks between Thanksgiving and New Year's Day, based on historical industry reports that show 30% of engagements take place during the holidays. Over two million U.S. weddings are projected for 2016, with destination Las Vegas weddings making up approximately six percent, or 34,000, of the total wedding ceremonies. This number does not account for international engagements and weddings. Nearly 100,000 weddings are projected to take place in Las Vegas in 2016, with over 65,000 of the couples traveling from international locations.
It isn't uncommon these days for women to select the engagement ring. What is unexpected is the date and manner in which her significant other will propose. The surprise factor of a marriage proposal is still a tradition in the United States that is likely here to stay, even though shopping for the wedding dress and selecting the venue will be concurrent with visiting jewelry stores to find the ring.
In major markets like Los Angeles, New York, Boston and San Francisco, where finding the right venue on the right date is becoming increasingly competitive, couples have to commit to a wedding date before announcing their engagement. More and more couples in the United States who don't want to compromise their dreams or their ideal wedding date are opting for a destination wedding at Chapel of the Flowers in Las Vegas.
"Chapel of the Flowers has been helping couples celebrate love since 1960." said Nicole Robertson, Director of Operations at Chapel of the Flowers. "Every year at this time we see a spike in inquiries asking about available wedding dates for the following year, and it isn't uncommon for a bride or groom-to-be to reserve a specific date a year or more out, even before the marriage proposal. Couples opting for the elegant, stress-free option of a destination wedding at our Chapel coordinate their dates with our planners and then check with their HR department to make sure they can get the dates off work before finalizing the wedding ceremony booking."
