Over 70 Law Schools to Offer Software and iPhone App to Help Students in their Job Search
Millburn, New Jersey (PRWEB) September 15, 2017 -- On Monday September 18, 2017, over 70 law schools across North America will be deploying Lawcountability, J.D., a software platform and iPhone app designed to help students raise their profiles, network more effectively, meet potential employers, and ultimately, get a job. The software provides proven ideas for engaging and following up with prospective employers via original webinars produced by Ari Kaplan, author of The Opportunity Maker: Strategies for Inspiring Your Legal Career Through Creative Networking and Business Development (West Academic, 2016 2nd Ed.) and Reinventing Professional Services: Building Your Business in the Digital Marketplace (Wiley, 2011). While attorneys and students often seek to raise their profiles, they struggle with execution due to an absence of accountability. This technology is the solution for many.
The practical curriculum includes programs such as: Getting a Job Begins With Branding; How to Work a Room Without Working Too Hard; The Best Social Media Strategy for 1Ls; and, The Secret to Reaching Alumni. To further incentivize students to leverage the system’s content and software to enhance their prospects, BARBRI is offering four full BARBRI Bar Review scholarships to the students who commit to watching all of the programs and completing all of the associated tasks. “I am very proud to be collaborating with BARBRI on this initiative given our shared mission of empowering law students,” says Kaplan, a nationally recognized author and speaker on legal marketing, networking, and business development.

In a press release issued last month discussing the National Association for Law Placement’s upcoming report, Jobs & JDs: Employment and Salaries of New Law School Graduates — Class of 2016, NALP executive director James Leipold noted that the findings reflect, “A continued tight job market for law school graduates at the 10-month mark, or at least tighter than the pre-recession market.” He described the unemployment rate as “more than twice as high as before the recession” and concluded that “Graduates will continue to compete with other junior lawyers for most jobs, and it is still a scrappy and entrepreneurial job market where graduates often create their own job opportunities rather than being hired for a position that is vacant.”
