P21 Elects Executive Leadership Team for 2014-2015
Washington, D.C. (PRWEB) September 25, 2014 -- The Partnership for 21st Century Skills (P21), the leading national organization advocating for 21st century readiness for all students, is pleased to announce its executive leadership slate for the 2014-2015 academic year. Stephan Turnipseed, President Emeritus and Executive Director of Strategic Partnerships for LEGO Education, was reelected as the chair of the strategic council and the executive board.
With unanimous support from the P21 Strategic Council, Dr. Liz Fogel, director of education for the Walt Disney Company was reelected vice-chair, Ryan Lefton, director of digital strategy for Gale Cengage Learning, was reelected as treasurer, and Alicia Levi, vice president with PBS LearningMedia, was reelected as secretary. Frank Gallagher, vice president of education for the Cable Impacts Foundation, will continue in his role as immediate past chair.
“I am truly humbled to serve as P21’s chair for a second year. So much more needs to be done to ensure all students have access to a high quality 21st century education. I know that together with the support of P21’s amazing executive board, strategic council members, and staff, we will continue making great strides in achieving this goal.” said Stephan Turnipseed as he was accepted to his second term.
In addition to P21’s officers, Craig Bach, vice president of education for Goddard Systems, Inc.; Dr. Charles Cadle, CEO of Destination Imagination; Lillian Kellogg, vice president of client services for Education Networks of America (ENA); Cheri Sterman, director of education and consumer relationships for Crayola; Dr. Ronald Thorpe, president and CEO of the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards; and David Young, CEO of VIF International Education were elected to serve on the executive board.
Kathy Hurley, executive vice president for the Pearson Foundation, ended her term on the executive board after eight years of service. “P21 owes a debt of gratitude to Kathy for her many positions of leadership as a long-serving executive board member and past chair,” said Turnipseed, “however, we look forward to her continued involvement as she pursues exciting new endeavors.” “I will miss being a member of P21’s executive board, but remain an ardent supporter and ally of P21 and the 21st Century Learning movement.” said Hurley.
P21 is proud to continue its collaborative work to engage leaders in education, business, and policy, as well as the 19 partnership states to help prepare students to lead and succeed in 21st century work, life, and citizenship.
