P21 Urges U.S. House to Approve Rep. Loebsack’s Schools of the Future Act as part of Pending ESEA Reauthorization Bill
Washington, DC (PRWEB) February 27, 2015 -- The Partnership for 21st Century Skills (P21), a national coalition of 30 member organizations representing education, business, policy leaders, and 19 state partners, today issued the following statement endorsing Representative David Loebsack’s proposed “Schools of the Future” amendment to H.R. 5 (the “Student Success Act”):
“The next ESEA must help to ensure that all students benefit from education systems focused on preparing them for success in the 21st Century.”
“We strongly urge the full House to approve Rep. Loebsack’s proposed amendment to H.R. 5, which would provide support for developing and using tools, courses, and strategies designed to help students develop 21st Century Skills, such as the ability to think critically and solve problems, be effective communicators, collaborate with others, and to create and innovate.”
P21, along with other leading groups, is a supporter of the New Social Compact for American Education (http://www.newaccountability.org). The collaborative effort on accountability aims to replace test-and-punish accountability systems with a support-and-improve system that focuses on giving teachers and students the necessary resources and assistance to improve teaching and learning.
