Pacific Ballroom Dance Thanks the Omidi Brothers and Children’s Obesity Fund for their Support
Seattle, Washington (PRWEB) July 31, 2013 -- Pacific Ballroom Dance expresses its gratitude to Julian Omidi and Dr. Michael Omidi, co-founders of the Children’s Obesity Fund for sponsoring a dancing classrooms program for a Seattle area school. The program is a 10-week course that teaches six different ballroom dances to fifth grade school children.
"Dancing classrooms builds social awareness, confidence and self-esteem in children through the medium of social dance," says Heather Longhurst, Executive Director for Pacific Ballroom Dance. "We are very thankful to the Omidi brothers and the Children’s Obesity Fund for helping us give these kids the gift of dance."
Dancing Classrooms (http://www.dancingclassroomsseattle.com) was founded by professional ballroom champions Pierre Dulain and Yvonne Marceau in 1994. The program gives kids the opportunity to embrace a new art form, be more active, and learn valuable social skills. During the 10-week course, the children learn Merengue, the Waltz, the Foxtrot, Swing, Tango and Rumba. At the end of the program, the kids showcase what they’ve learned to their parents and participate in a Colors of the Rainbow youth dance competition.
Pacific Ballroom Dance is a nonprofit ballroom dance academy for kids age 5-18 years. Pacific Ballroom Dance exposes kids to different cultures, encourages discipline, builds teamwork and teaches respect and good sportsmanship.
Co-founded by Julian Omidi and Dr. Michael Omidi, the Children’s Obesity Fund (http://www.childrensobesityfund.org) hopes to help reverse the trend of rising obesity rates in America. The goal of the non-profit charity is to help people fully understand the obesity issue and its dire impacts on individuals and society as a whole -- and to use that knowledge to encourage children to grow up strong and healthy. Children’s Obesity Fund partners with other organizations to educate and support parents, educators and others so that we can all work together to raise healthy, active, social, and happy children. While the organization does not accept donations, it does encourage direct contributions of money and talents to the associations featured on our website. Children’s Obesity Fund is on Facebook as well as Google+, Twitter, and Pinterest.
