Pacific Fertility Center’s Carl Herbert to Lecture in Japan
San Francisco, CA (PRWEB) May 16, 2014 -- Carl M. Herbert, MD, president of the Pacific Fertility Center, is sharing his expertise in Japan this month through a series of guest lectures and interviews about the latest developments in reproductive medicine. Dr. Herbert brings his knowledge to a country with a plummeting birthrate—one of the lowest in the world.
On May 17, Dr. Herbert will be a special guest speaker at the annual meeting of the Japan Society for Ova Research (JSOR) in Kobe, Japan, where he will be speaking to an audience of more than 700 physicians, embryologists, and other specialists in ova research. His presentation is entitled, “Evaluating and Manipulating the Human Oocyte: Implications for Modern Clinical Care.” Founded in 1960, JSOR publishes a quarterly journal and supports specialists in the fields of reproductive biology and assisted reproductive technology.
In addition, on May 19, he will be speaking in Tokyo/Saitama to a large group of IVF physicians on, “Innovations in Managing Infertility for Patients with Advanced Maternal Age.” The gathering was organized by Dr. Kashiwazaki, to capitalize specifically upon Dr. Herbert’s considerable expertise in the field of assisted reproductive technology (ART). His presentation will address options offered at Pacific Fertility Center but not currently available in Japan, such as ovum donation and comprehensive chromosome screening (CCS).
While in Japan, Dr. Herbert will also make an appearance at a special invitational lecture presented by Kari Kawada, Director of the International Fertility Center (IFC) on May 15. Speaking at the Hyogo Medical School Graduate Program, her lecture is entitled, “Alternative Fertility Care Options Available to Japanese Patients in the United States.”
Kari Kawada has collaborated exclusively with Dr. Herbert for the past 19 years, assisting hundreds of Japanese couples travel to the United States to take advantage of PFC’s cutting-edge programs. IFC works closely with these couples—making arrangements, providing translation services, and collaborating as needed to smooth the process.
In addition to these upcoming appearances, Mainichi, one of the major newspapers in Japan, recently interviewed Dr. Herbert as part of a series called “Extending Warm Hands,” which featured news from “advanced countries” around the world.
An accomplished clinical researcher, Dr. Herbert is a fourth-generation physician who was instrumental in the development of one of the first assisted reproductive technology programs in the United States. He is repeatedly singled out by his peers in two independent national surveys: “Best Doctors in the Bay Area by San Francisco Magazine” and “Guide to Top Doctors” by Consumers’ Checkbook.
