Pacific Office Automation Offers Solutions and Services for "Going Paperless"
Beaverton, OR (PRWEB) August 26, 2013 -- Going "paperless" is a step forward and a step in the right direction explains Pacific Office Automation (POA) President Doug Pitassi. "When you talk about a paperless office, the first thing people think is that they need paper for certain tasks, and to that I have no objection, truly paperless is more myth than reality, but you can decrease paper consumption. There are a variety of reasons why you want to cut down on your paper usage, and at the forefront decreased costs, labor and time savings."
Creating a paperless office can definitely be a big change for many businesses who have used the same methods for many years. POA's expertise shines in this arena. When you're contemplating a big move, a business often relies on the expertise of others. Discussing price, Douglas Pitassi explains how decreasing paper usage is not only more efficient, but it saves money. "A paperless office can see savings in a variety of ways. The first is the hard cost of paper, printers, toner and IT support. When you reduce the amount of paper you're printing, you can reduce all of those overhead costs. The second way to realize a savings is in the time and labor that employees spend pushing paper around. This cost isn't as tangible, but when an employee walks down the hall 5 times a day to get a piece of paper off the printer, mark it up and edit that document, then deliver it to someone else, you're only talking about a few minutes. If you have 20 people all doing the same thing, now you're talking about hours of lost productivity every day. The third way many businesses see a cost savings is in their customer retention and sales department. If a client needs a proposal or would like a revision that can mean delivering a piece of paper for editing, inputting the new details into a management system all of which is wasting time that can be better spent."
Apart from fiscal and time savings, creating a paperless office also has an effect on intangibles such as the environment. According to the Clean Air Council, "The average office worker in the US uses 10,000 sheets of copy paper each year. That’s four million tons of copy paper used annually. Office workers in the US generate approximately two pounds of paper and paperboard products every day.*" 10,000 sheets of copy paper equate to 20 reams of paper, per person, per year.
According to Doug Pitassi, paperless offices "just make sense." Says Doug Pitassi, "Whatever your motivation for going paperless, it's something that will come sooner or later for almost every industry. Cities, states and municipalities are beginning to ban certain Styrofoam products** and other materials, it won't be long before the paperless office is the norm, and we want to help quicken the change."
