(PRWEB) October 29, 2013 -- Pacific Prime has recently released its annual roundup of the top news stories related to Cigna in the last 12 months. Pacific Prime is rounding up the top news stories related to major medical insurance providers every two weeks as a quick way to help keep clients informed.
The beginning of the roundup shows that Cigna started the year on an especially positive note as the insurer was named the Best Group International Private Medical Insurance Provider at the 2012 Health Insurance Awards in London. Cigna was commended for its innovation and excellent customer focus in the corporate international health care sector.
A quick read-through of the article shows that Cigna's last 12 months were a period of both growth and improvement as the insurer formed several new partnerships and made a number of enhancements to their existing services.
Cigna signed a number of new deals over the past year, starting in May, when the insurer teamed up with a Chinese bank to bring health insurance and health care to the rising Chinese middle class. Soon after, Cigna signed a 10-year deal with a new pharmacy benefit manager, who are now managing the prescription drug benefits for Cigna's clients. Cigna also supported the development of several mobile apps from HopeLab, which have been designed to help young cancer patients with their treatments.
A theme of "improvement" was also apparent as Cigna launched a new suite of flexible health insurance plans in response to customer demand for more flexible options. The new plans, which come in Silver, Gold, and Platinum levels, have replaced their previous Global Health Option and Advance plans. The new plans offer varying levels of cover and different options for cost share and deductibles.
