Painter Rosalind McGary's Solo Show "circa 2015" Opens at the Sheen Center in New York City
Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) August 26, 2015 -- Rosalind McGary’s solo show circa 2015 opens in the Sheen Center gallery, Thursday, September 10th. Her commissioned installation also at the Sheen Center The Good, the True, and the Beautiful will be officially unveiled concurrently on September 10th. McGary describes both projects, “I feel so privileged to share this new work in the solo show circa 2015– particularly because so much of the work in this exhibit is informed by the piece I created for The Sheen Center. The installation is a large piece made up of four eight foot panels which tell the story of Our Lady of Loreto.” The Sheen Center for Thought and Culture is located at 18 Bleeker Street, New York, NY 10012.
McGary’s work asks: “How does our definition of beauty change as we evolve over a lifetime?” In circa 2015 the artist presents her signature technique of beading paint, combined with gold leaf and drawing. “Drawing on religious iconography, patterns I see in nature, and my imagination—I paint to give reverence to my own definition of beautiful,” she explains. An artist in search of beauty in uncommon places, McGary captures the people in her life and reflects them as symbols of beauty.
The Sheen Center installation: The Good, the True, and the Beautiful which tells the story of Our Lady of Loreto will be displayed in the lobby of the Sheen Center. The four hand-painted eight foot panels, are a nod to the former parish which used to occupy 18 Bleeker Street.
Sheen Center for Thought and Culture is a newly renovated building and former parish in the NoHo section of New York City, which includes the gallery as well as two theaters.
