PAINWeek 2015 Announces the Full-Day Frontline Focus: Nurse Practitioners Track at the National Conference in Las Vegas
Montclair, NJ (PRWEB) August 13, 2015 -- PAINWeek—the largest US pain conference for frontline practitioners—announced that on Tuesday, September 8, the national conference will present its Frontline Focus: Nurse Practitioners track. Since more and more healthcare services are delivered by nurse practitioners, it is vital that they have a reasonable understanding of the challenges facing them. This track will be comprised of a range of topics—Demystifying Pain Management: One Case at a Time; Opioid Rotation: An Effective Technique in Reducing Opioid Dose and Mitigating Risk; Safe Opioid Prescribing: From Genomics to Disposal; The Complex Pain Patient: Addiction, Obesity, and the Elderly; and Opioid Monitoring at a Nurse Practitioner Managed Clinic.
Theresa Mallick-Searle, MS, RN-BC, ANP-BC, said, “There are many reasons why healthcare providers choose not to manage—or unknowingly undertreat—pain: fear of possible addiction, overdose, litigation, and difficult personality types. Mostly it’s a lack of knowledge, understanding, and confidence to manage a sometimes elusive diagnosis. Improving the nurse practitioners’ knowledge and skills in the management of the patient with acute and chronic pain will help demystify challenging diagnoses and reduce uncertainty. Attending PAINWeek will empower nurse practitioners, expanding their understanding of the pathophysiology and mechanisms of pain, current research, and evidenced based advice and treatment options.” Ms. Mallick-Searle is a nurse practitioner at Stanford Health Care, California, in the division of pain medicine.
Brett B. Snodgrass, MSN, FNP-BC, said, “Utilizing the nurse education, as well as the advanced skill sets, nurse practitioners are ready on the front lines for safe treatment of chronic pain in patients across the country. PAINWeek delivers up-to-date information, trends, education, and valuable tools for the nurse practitioner to take back and use in their practice.” Ms. Snodgrass is a family nurse practitioner with BBS Consultants in Olive Branch, Mississippi.
Convening at The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas for its 9th year on September 8-12, PAINWeek 2015 expects to welcome over 2000 physicians, nurses, pharmacists, and other healthcare professionals for a comprehensive program of course offerings, satellite events, and exhibits.
Additionally, over 100 exhibitors will be participating at the Exhibit Hall, commencing with the traditional Welcome Reception on Wednesday evening.
