PAINWeek 2015 Welcomes the American Academy of Pain Medicine and the American Headache Society to the National Conference in Las Vegas

On Wednesday, September 9, the AAPM will present Essential Tools for Treating the Patient in Pain. Topics will include Diagnosis of Chronic Migraine and Episodic Migraine; Transitions, Risk Factors, and Barriers to Care; Cases Studies and Q&A; Pathophysiology of Chronic Migraine and Episodic Migraine; Acute Treatment Strategies; and Preventive Treatment Strategies. Richard B. Lipton, MD, Chair of the CMEP, states, “CMEP, an educational initiative of AHS, conveys the incredible progress in the field of headache medicine. The program discusses advances in diagnosis as well as insights into the risk factors and mechanisms that lead to migraine progression. It reviews biological theories that emerge from animal models as well as human studies of epidemiology, genetics, and neuroimaging. The program also provides a practical approach to therapeutics, highlighting the role of behavioral and pharmacologic treatment, the emerging evidence for targeted monoclonal antibodies and the exciting progress in the use of devices in migraine treatment.”
