PAINWeek Expands Pain Educators Forum With Neuropathica Galactica
Montclair, NJ (PRWEB) July 30, 2014 -- PAINWeek, the National Conference on Pain for Frontline Practitioners, announced today that the highly popular Pain Educators Forum, to be presented for the 9th consecutive year, will expand to a 3-day format. The additional day, Tuesday, September 2, will feature an entirely new full-day workshop activity, “Neuropathica Galactica.” The day will provide a highly interactive journey in pain management and education through 6 hours of application and practice-based courses. To ensure a problem-solving, application-rich experience, the activity will be limited to 60 participants. Preregistration is required, and an additional $150 registration fee will apply. Neuropathica Galactica will be presented in 4 course sessions and features longtime Pain Educator Forum faculty members Mary Lynn McPherson, PharmD, BCPS, CPE, FASPE, and Christopher Herndon, PharmD, BCPS, CPE. Commenting on the day, Dr. McPherson remarked, “I’m excited to be collaborating with Chris Herndon on this innovative ‘boots on the ground’ program for primary care practitioners. We’ll be providing ample opportunity to practice assessment skills, selecting and monitoring nondrug and drug therapies, and educational strategies that can be used with pain patients. Upon returning to their practice, attendees will be equipped to implement patient care strategies that work and will be better prepared for licensing and credentialing exams in pain education.”
Presented each year by the American Society of Pain Educators, the Pain Educators Forum seeks to provide a foundational preparation in pain management for the frontline practitioner. Sessions cover best practices in pain management as well as ways to effectively teach, transfer, and communicate what has been learned to other healthcare professionals and patients, families, and caregivers.
Attendees at PAINWeek 2014 will find many other enhancements to the conference agenda, including a new track presented by the American Society of Interventional Pain Physicians (ASIPP), new courses exploring cannabinoid-based therapies for chronic pain, and new course concentrations for nurse practitioners. There is a full schedule of satellite programs, both certified and noncertified including, for the first time, dinner events on 2 nights of the conference.
As at prior PAINWeek conferences, the 2014 curriculum features a wealth of course concentrations, including behavioral pain management, health coaching, interventional pain management, medical/legal, neurology, pain and chemical dependency, pharmacotherapy, regional pain syndromes, and full-day programs presented by the American Academy of Pain Medicine, the American Pain Society, the American Society of Pain Educators, the National Association of Drug Diversion Investigators, and the Veterans Health Administration. Additionally, over 100 exhibitors will be participating during Exhibit Hall hours commencing with the traditional Welcome Reception on Wednesday evening.
In total, the PAINWeek curriculum now encompasses over 120 CE/CME course hours, enabling attendees to earn 39 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits.
