It must be noted that only centrally located hotels rated at least 3 stars were considered by the survey.
Only a few dollars more expensive is Beverly Hills, home of Rodeo Drive and the swanky 90210 zip code. It took the second spot on the survey with an average overnight rate of $235. Rounding out the top three at $234 nightly is Santa Monica, the affluent beachfront city in Los Angeles County.
The following table shows the 10 most expensive destinations in California based on the average rate for their cheapest available double room (minimum: 3-star hotel) during the time period spanning June 1 through August 31, 2015.
