Palo Alto University Professor Peter Goldblum Earns APA’s Division 44 Distinguished Contributions to Education and Training Award
Palo Alto, Calif. (PRWEB) July 23, 2013 -- Palo Alto University (PAU), a private non-profit higher education institution, announced today that Professor Peter Goldblum, Ph.D. has earned the American Psychological Association’s Division 44 Distinguished Contributions to Education and Training Award. Division 44 is the Society for the psychological study of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) issues.
"Dr. Goldblum’s far-reaching and visionary contributions to the development of a science of LGBT psychology has provided the science base for practice, education, and the development of public policy," said Arlene Noriega, Ph.D., APA’s Division 44 President.
Dr. Goldblum also co-directs CLEAR (the Center for LGBTQ Evidence-based Applied Research), which also received a Presidential Citation by Dr. Noriega. CLEAR was launched by PAU in 2007 to conduct applied research that has a direct impact on the mental health and well being of LGBT and Questioning (LGBTQ) individuals and their families.
"To see my research and the efforts of the colleagues I work alongside at CLEAR to be recognized in this way is such an honor," said Dr. Goldblum. "I also want to thank PAU’s Dr. Bill Froming, Dr. Jim Breckenridge and President Allen Calvin. None of this would have been possible without their unwavering support."
In 2010, fellow PAU Associate Professor and co-director of CLEAR Kimberly F. Balsam, Ph.D. also earned a similar APA Division 44 award – the Distinguished Scientific Contribution award – for her extensive research on issues faced by the LGBT community.
