Palo Alto University Rotary Features the Fund for the Future at Annual Gala
Palo Alto, CA (PRWEB) April 19, 2014 -- Palo Alto University Rotary, a 26 year old service club with more than 90 members who live and work in the nearby Palo Alto and Stanford communities, will hold its annual gala at the University Club in Palo Alto on May 9th from 6pm – 9:30pm. In years past, the event would raise money to support one or two specific community organizations chosen by the board, but this year moneys raised will be invested in the PAUR Fund for the Future, a new Donor Advised Fund established through The Rotary Foundation. The Fund for the Future will be managed as an endowment fund that will build over time with the vision to be able to impact our local, regional and international service projects on a larger scale.
“Palo Alto University Rotary believes in investing in the future, and to that end we are thrilled with the potential of growing our club’s new Fund for the Future” said Eliot Terborgh, former Club President and Gala Chairman. “We believe that setting our sights on a larger goal many years down the line will allow us to make a stronger impact in our community over the long run.”
Palo Alto University Rotary holds its Annual Gala in the spring at Palo Alto’s University Club. In years past, the gala has raised significant funds for nearby youth programs, including Belle Haven Community School in Menlo Park, East Palo Alto Kids Foundation and Youth Community Service. Funds are raised by corporate sponsorships, member donations, ticket sales, and a live and silent auction at the Gala.
The Gala itself, open to all 90+ members of Palo Alto University Rotary and their guests, has enjoyed enthusiastic participation within the club and the local community. The gala this year has already exceeded individual and table tickets sales from years past.
