Pappeal, a Collection of Bags Made of Durable Tyvek, Hits Kickstarter Next Week
Miami, Florida (PRWEB) February 18, 2014 -- Bags come in all shapes and sizes, but they all have the same simple function; they serve as a vessel to carry things. Pappeal is the company behind an innovative line of simplistic bags that highlight utility and durability. The line consists of three bag types including a classic backpack, messenger bag, and duffel bag. Each one of the three bags from Pappeal resembles the most popular styles of today, and integrates the properties that make Tyvek ideal for carrying and protecting belongings. The classic backpack features a main zipper compartment, ideal for books and laptops. The duffel bag is large enough to be used to pack for a weeklong vacation, but can also be folded to the size of a napkin and packed away in a separate bag. The messenger bag has a padded shoulder strap and features an easy access outside zip pocket along with the main flap compartment for papers and documents.
Tyvek is a brand of flashspun, high-density polyethylene fibers from DuPont. It is a synthetic material that looks like paper, and is soft like fabric, but actually consists of bonded microscopic fibers as small as 0.5 micrometers (for comparison, a human hair is roughly 75 micrometers). Tyvek is three times lighter than paper, water-resistant, and almost impossible to tear. Previously, Tyvek had typically only been used for commercial purposes, such as house wrap to provide water resistance and insulation, but in the past few years has caught on as a useful material for consumer goods like shoes and wallets.
“Tyvek has so many characteristics that make it an ideal material for a bag to be made from,” states the team behind Pappeal. “Many of us already carry a lot with us, so we wanted to make the bags as lightweight and versatile as possible so that you can protect your property without adding any noticeable weight.”
When Pappeal’s campaign launches on February 24, it will look to raise $30,000 during its 30-day campaign. Rewards for the campaign include pre-orders of the bags along with other Pappeal-branded goods.
