Parallel Advisors hires Financial Advisors, Amy Barker and Sandra Pierce

Amy and Sandy formerly worked together for a local registered investment advisor. “After more than a decade working together,” says Pierce, “we were looking to collaborate with other high caliber advisors to solve complex client issues." Amy Barker, CFA, CFP
Amy Barker is a Chartered Financial Analyst and Certified Financial Planner™ (CFP®) with more than 25 years’ experience advising individuals, families, businesses and charities on their financial needs. Barker’s experience includes serving as a Partner and Director of Portfolio Management at Parker Carlson and Johnson in Dayton and as a Senior Vice President and Senior Investment Officer with the National City Bank in Dayton as well as the Central Trust Bank in Cincinnati. Amy graduated from the University of Cincinnati with degrees in Finance and Marketing. She serves on a number of boards including extensive leadership roles with the CFA Institute, Sinclair Community College and the Centerville Noon Optimists. To unwind, Barker loves to ski and practices martial arts.

Sandra Pierce, CPA, CFP
Sandy Pierce is a CPA and CFP who honed her craft in public accounting and commercial banking. For the past 21 years, Pierce has worked to assist individuals, families, charities and foundations in investment management, tax planning, charitable & family gifting, and estate planning. Pierce most recently served as a Partner and Vice President of Wealth Management at Parker Carlson & Johnson. Prior to that, she was a Financial Planner with Buckingham Financial Group in Centerville, OH and a Vice President in Commercial Lending & Credit Administration at Bank One, also in Dayton. Pierce graduated from Miami University in Business Administration, Major in Accountancy, and graduated Magna Cum Laude.
Says Pierce, “My clients are like family, and their happiness and welfare are what led me to this work and to joining Parallel Advisors, where clients come first.” Using her talents to give back to her community, especially to teach financial skills to women, adds further meaning to her life.
Pierce has multiple board affiliations including having served as the Chair of the Executive Board of the Ohio Society of CPAs, is a former delegate to the Governing Council of the American Institute of CPAs. She’s a member of the Dayton Children’s Foundation Board, the University of Dayton’s Planned Giving Committee and Chairs the Investment Committee of the Rotary Club in Oakwood, Ohio.
