Dallas, Texas (PRWEB) December 19, 2016 -- Pet sitting and dog walking company, Park Cities Pet Sitter, has been awarded the 2017 Business of the Year by pet sitting trade organization, NAPPS. The coveted national award was bestowed on Park Cities Pet Sitter after they completed a comprehensive application, answered specific questions regarding what distinguishes their business as superior in the industry, and were then selected by committee vote.
Park Cities Pet Sitter is one of the largest pet sitting companies in the country, with 41 staff members performing 60,000 plus visits annually. They cover the majority of the Dallas Metroplex and Plano in the north Texas market, and have been in business since 1992.
Park Cities Pet Sitter President, Joette White, was ecstatic to hear that her business had won the coveted NAPPS award. “I could not be prouder of the company and my staff,” said White. “It is incredibly gratifying to be recognized by our peers with the highest award in our industry. Great service is what built Park Cities Pet Sitter, and will continue to be at the core of what we do as we enter our 25th year of business in 2017.”
White’s application for the NAPPS 2017 Business of the Year award focused on three key elements of her business and personal evolution as a business owner. The first element was detailing the fundamental reason for her business’ long term success: never forgetting that pet sitting is a people business that requires great service to clients while simultaneously taking good care of staff. The second element was choosing to embrace her areas of managerial weaknesses about 5 years ago, instead of avoiding them, and consequently developing a team of advisers who assist her in keeping the business on track and growing. The third element was actively choosing to become a voice for professionalism and leadership in the pet sitting industry by mentoring other pet sitting business owners and regularly communicating with peers in other markets about their similar business issues and how to elevate the perception of the pet sitting industry.
Pet industry consultant Erin Fenstermaker has worked with White and Park Cities Pet Sitter in an advisory capacity since 2011 and agreed that NAPPS made the right choice by anointing Park Cities Pet Sitter its 2017 Business of the Year. “Joette has always been a people person, so I was never surprised that she could grow Park Cities Pet Sitter consistently while maintaining a strong, loyal staff,” said Fenstermaker. “What I am the most proud of, though, are the changes she has made to become more financially savvy when making business decisions, and how she has built a team of advisers that are strong in the areas she did not excel. Those were difficult parts of her evolution as a business owner, but are what makes her relatable as a person and a very well respected leader in the industry. I could not be happier for her, the company and all of her amazing clients!”
As part of the perks for winning NAPPS’ 2017 Business of the Year, Park Cities Pet Sitter has been given a personalized “2017 Business of the Year” logo to include on its website and on all marketing materials. White has also been given a complimentary trip to the 2017 NAPPS Education and Networking Forum in Chicago next May, where she will be recognized by the NAPPS organization and her peers.
