Parkinson’s Disease Support Group Announces Upcoming Speakers, Social Gatherings
St. Augustine, FL (PRWEB) September 17, 2015 -- This fall the St. Augustine Parkinson’s Disease Support Group will host notable speakers and friendly socials for people with Parkinson’s disease and their caregivers. All events are free and open to the public.
“Anyone with Parkinson’s or who cares for someone with the disease will benefit from hearing the latest in research and treatments from our speakers as well as getting together in a safe environment at one of our socials,” said Melanie Lomaglio, a physical therapist who facilitates the support group. She is a certified neurologic clinical specialist and faculty member at the University of St. Augustine.
Upcoming Events
Saturday, Sept. 19, 2 p.m.: Guest speaker Margaret Bennett, a patient advocate for patients with Parkinson’s and their caregivers, will share resources and support services to provide patients and their caregivers with education, resources and support. Location: University of St. Augustine, Room 101, 1 University Blvd., St. Augustine.
Friday, Oct. 9, 1 p.m.: Social at City Coffee Company, 1280 N. Ponce de Leon Blvd, St. Augustine, Florida.
Saturday, Nov. 21, 2 p.m.: Guest speaker Dr. Zhigao Huang, a board certified neurologist from Baptist Neurology Group in Jacksonville, Florida, will host a question and answer session. Location: University of St. Augustine, Room 101, 1 University Blvd., St. Augustine.
Friday, Dec. 11, 1 p.m.: Social. Location to be determined.
Saturday, Jan. 16, 2 p.m.: Guest speaker Dr. Natalya Shneyder, an assistant professor and neurologist at the University of Florida (UF) College of Medicine in Jacksonville, will co-present with Karen Perrin, a nurse who leads the Parkinson and neuropathy program at UF Health Jacksonville, to share the services UF provides to patients.
