Partners for Urology Health Earns Accreditation
AUSTINTOWN, Ohio (PRWEB) January 12, 2015 -- Partners for Urology Health, 6262 Mahoning Ave., has earned accreditation from the American College of Radiation Oncology (ACRO) effective through Jan. 31, 2017.
Partners for Urology Health is the only healthcare provider in northeast Ohio and one of only two in the state to earn this accreditation, according to ACRO’s website.
Practice accreditation is a voluntary process in which professional peers identify standards indicative of a quality practice and conduct an audit to ensure these standards are met. Accrediting healthcare providers is a means of ensuring radiation therapy patients receive the highest quality care. It also promotes success in the practice of radiation oncology through education, responsible socioeconomic advocacy, and integration of science and technology into clinical practice.
“This accreditation confirms our commitment to provide quality care and an excellent patient experience to those with urologic cancers,” says Margaret Baker, regional director of oncology services at Mercy Health Youngstown. “It validates that we consistently provide these high-quality treatments in accordance with national guidelines to ensure that our patients have the best outcomes possible.”
Partners for Urology Health is a joint venture between Mercy Health, formerly Humility of Mary Health Partners, and two physician groups: N.E.O. Urology and Advanced Urology. Partners for Urology Health specializes in treating prostate and other urological cancers. It is the only prostate cancer treatment center between Cleveland and Pittsburgh that uses the Calypso GPS body tracking system to actively identify and track tumor position during radiation therapy, ensuring pinpoint accuracy in radiation treatment. This results in better outcomes for patients and reduces side effects.
