Pastor Doug Batchelor, President of Amazing Facts Warns Popular Heaven Is for Real Film Contradicts Biblical Teachings
Sacramento, CA (PRWEB) April 25, 2014 -- Renowned Christian radio and TV speaker Pastor Doug Batchelor, president of Amazing Facts, Inc., has issued a strong word of caution about the new Sony Pictures film titled Heaven Is for Real. The movie is based on the 2010 bestselling book by Todd Burpo, about his four-year-old son Colton. Burpo says Colton was taken to heaven while undergoing emergency surgery. While in heaven, according to the book, Colton saw deceased loved ones, such as his miscarried sister and his great grandfather, who died 30 years before Colton was born. The book says that the boy shared “impossible-to-know” details about them both.
Yet, Batchelor contends that as astounding as young Colton’s revelations might seem, these near-death experiences directly contradict the Old and New Testament teachings regarding death. “The Bible clearly states that the ‘dead know nothing’ until the resurrection,” says Batchelor. He then asks, “If Satan or one of his demons appeared to you as a deceased loved one with ‘insider’ information, how would you know the difference? Or would its ‘heavenly’ disguise and message trick you?”
Batchelor sees an even greater hazard beyond the movie that could blindside many viewers if they are not careful. He explains, “Most people today have been taught to believe that the soul is immortal and that a person goes immediately to heaven or hell when they die. What they don’t realize is that this belief is setting them up to fall for a final masterpiece of deception foretold in Revelation. That’s what makes the movie Heaven Is for Real genuinely dangerous for unsuspecting Christians and unbelievers.”
