(PRWEB) June 11, 2015 -- RestorixHealth, a leader in developing and managing comprehensive wound healing centers of excellence, announced today that Patrick Mullally, Vice President of IT and Chief Compliance Officer, has successfully completed the Certified in Healthcare Compliance (CHC) Examination, administered by the Compliance Certification Board (CCB).
Founded by the Health Care Compliance Association (HCCA)® in 1998, the Compliance Certification Board (CCB) exists to develop criteria for the determination of competence in the practice of healthcare compliance at a variety of levels and to recognize individuals meeting these criteria.
“Corporate compliance at both an executive and center level are the cornerstone of our business culture at RestorixHealth,” said Steve McLaughlin, CEO for RestorixHealth. “With Patrick as a CHC-certified chief compliance officer, it reinforces our commitment to delivering the highest quality patient-centered care.”
Born out of the government’s crackdown on Medicare fraud, healthcare compliance is a relatively new industry. As CCB President Debbie Troklus noted, “The United States government constantly updates the laws and regulations surrounding Medicare to ensure proper billing and to eliminate fraud. These new regulations demand professionals who both understand the new regulations and how to implement programs to ensure compliance within their companies.”
A corporate healthcare compliance program is generally defined as a formal program specifying an organization’s policies, procedures and actions within a process to help prevent and detect violations of laws and regulations. It is a system or method ensuring that employees understand and will comply with laws that apply to what they do every day. Compliance professionals are tasked with ensuring that healthcare providers follow federal, state and local regulations that govern the delivery of healthcare.
The CHC Examination was released June 26, 2000. Since that date, only 4,100 individuals have earned this professional credential.
