Patrona Create New Technology: The World's First Magnetic Card Wallet

Already 30% funded during their first week, The Patrona Connector Series looks set for success. The project is led by young designers Andy Brundan and Harry de Stacpoole who, at just 26 and 24, have already attracted investment from design icon Sir Terence Conran, and launched two best selling products.
The Central piece of the range is the Connector Wallet, the world’s first magnetic phone wallet. A small magnetic circle sticks to the back a phone or case using a removable 3M adhesive. This then connects to a neatly designed steel plate on the back of the wallet. It holds 4 cards, and is incredibly thin, taking up little room in your pockets. The wallet has a circular socket, which allows the wallet to be rotated out of view of the camera's lens.
The Patrona team have successfully invented a unique solution that shields credit cards from magnetic interference. As Harry says, ‘It is this breakthrough that makes the wallet a world first’.
The wallet also combines leather and steel using a new leather working technique that the pair developed. The product is both elegant and striking and no doubt going to be a winning piece in the coming season.
They did not stop there. Andy Brundan, Patrona's founder, commented, 'when the new IOS6 technology arrived with its Sat Nav system we realised there was a real need for a well engineered and subtle in car mount system. We already had the technology within the wallet system so set about designing the solution.'
The Connector Dash is a clever steel stand that sits on top of a dash board. The Connector Face sticks to a vertical dashboard or surface within the car, office or home. Both products use a circular socket to allow for quick, safe and easy rotation from portrait to landscape alignment. The products stick inside the car with ingenious 3M adhesives, that remove without marking. The products do not fall off, and provide a really strong grip, making them a far safer alternative to suction mounts.
Assuming the project is successful the two intend to manufacture these products entirely in the UK, which will make Patrona the only travel accessories brand solely manufacturing in the UK. As Andy says ‘designing and making in Britain was just a dream a few years ago. Now, with the use of clever manufacturing technologies and great factory partners, that dream is soon to be become a reality’.
