PEARL Achieves ANSI Accredited Standards Developer Status
Aurora, CO (PRWEB) September 26, 2013 -- The Professional Electrical Apparatus Recyclers League (PEARL) has been approved by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) – the voice of the U.S. standards and conformity assessment system – as an ANSI Accredited Standards Developer.
ANSI’s decision comes nearly two years after PEARL created its first ANSI committee and began the application process to become an ANSI Accredited Standards Developer with the goal of promoting a single set of consensus technical standards for reconditioning electrical equipment used in industrial and commercial installations and accepted by a pool of industry professionals and stakeholders.
“ANSI’s decision to accept PEARL’s application for Accredited Standards Developer status has been a goal of PEARL since the organization was founded in 1997 and began creating hundreds of technical reconditioning standards for the most common categories of electrical equipment used in industrial and commercial applications,” says Stephen Reames, PEARL President and President of Oregon Breakers, Inc. According to PEARL Executive Director Mark Stone and Stuart Jackson, PEARL ANSI Committee Chairman, PEARL Vice President, and President of Instel Power Products Inc. (Simpsonville, SC), PEARL’s next steps will be to reach out to the entire electrical industry and find volunteers from every segment– from electrical consumer to manufacturer, retailer to field service organization, and other stakeholders – to assist with the review and improvement of the existing reconditioning standards.
