Pennsylvania Attorney Edward E. Knauss Certified as a Specialist in Workers’ Compensation Law
Harrisburg, PA (PRWEB) May 14, 2014 -- Attorney Edward (Ted) Knauss of the Harrisburg-based personal injury law firm Metzger Wickersham recently became certified as a specialist in the practice of workers’ compensation law by the Pennsylvania Bar Association Workers’ Compensation Law Section as authorized by the Pennsylvania Supreme Court. Workers’ compensation certification is the first certification offered by the PA state bar in any law specialty.
Knauss successfully completed the 2014 certification process by passing a rigorous screening to display his skill, expertise and years of experience in the practice of workers’ compensation law. In order to become certified, an attorney must establish through documentation that he or she has been actively engaged in the practice of law for a minimum of five years and devotes at least 50 percent of his or her practice to the specialty field of workers’ compensation. Qualified attorneys are then required to pass a challenging written exam to demonstrate their knowledge on a wide range of PA workers’ comp topics.
“Pennsylvania workers’ compensation certification provides valuable guidance for injured workers seeking a competent lawyer to handle their case,” said Knauss. The certification gives the general public the opportunity to easily identify which PA lawyers have the necessary knowledge and expertise to effectively advocate on their behalf. Only 181 lawyers in the state of Pennsylvania are currently certified in workers’ compensation law.
Attorney Knauss has been practicing law in Pennsylvania for 39 years. He has extensive experience in all facets of workers’ compensation litigation, including petitions, depositions, and hearings. In addition to his workers’ compensation certification, Knauss is board-certified as a civil trial specialist by the National Board of Trial Advocacy. He therefore holds the rare distinction among attorneys in Pennsylvania of being certified in both workers’ compensation and civil trial law.
