Lake of the Woods (LOW) is a gated community that sits between Culpeper and Fredericksburg. Established in the 60s, LOW has grown to over 4,000 lots (800 of which are lakeside). Residents enjoy the 550 acre lake that offers largemouth bass fishing, watersports and plenty of peaceful places along the water to sit and unwind.
“For us, there is a lot of history here,” says Charlie. “Ozzie and Margaret Ostlund purchased a lot at LOW in 1970, just as Boise Cascade began developing the area.”
Many weekend visits to LOW ensued, but the beauty of the lake tempted them to turn those visits into extended summer outings with additional family and friends. Eventually, Ozzie and Margaret made LOW their fulltime home, throwing their doors open for frequent visits from their children and grandchildren.
The second generation followed. Penny and Charlie bought a weekend home at LOW in 1998 and moved there permanently in 2004. Their oldest son, Chad, and his family moved to LOW shortly thereafter.
“As you can see, nobody knows the LOW lifestyle as well as the Ostlund real estate team. We have four generations living here, dating back to when the community was just getting established.
