People’s Trust Insurance Lends Expertise to Metropolitan Center’s Annual Hurricane Forum
Deerfield Beach, Florida (PRWEB) June 25, 2015 -- Although it’s been a decade since Florida was hit by a major hurricane, knowledge of storm awareness and preparation remain just as imperative as ever for Florida residents. On Wednesday morning, the Florida International University Metropolitan Center’s annual hurricane forum provided the environment for a critical conversation on preparedness and response, bringing together the public, private and non-profit sectors to discuss concerns that directly impact the South Florida community.
The theme of this year’s forum, “Rising Vulnerability and Risk Awareness,” encouraged leaders to relay their own experiences and knowledge to better inform the community’s dialogue. Recognizing the prominent place of People’s Trust Insurance Company in the South Florida Market, forum organizers included the insurer among those asked to offer thought leadership and expertise on behalf of the industry.
Mark Bowsher, People’s Trust Vice President and Chief Underwriting Officer, brought more than 30 years of experience in the Property & Casualty insurance business to this discussion, reflecting his deep understanding of Florida’s unique landscape and the necessity of preparedness education to help mitigate risk.
“It only takes one hurricane to pummel Florida with high winds and severe flooding,” said Bowsher. “We want Florida residents to be aware of the risks associated with hurricane season and be prepared in advance.” In such a high-risk state, Bowsher expounded on the importance of consumer preparedness, insurers’ financial strength, and an overall need for immediate response times.
People’s Trust Insurance has emerged as an industry leader, and with more than 140,000 policyholders, is ranked among the top 10 home insurance carriers in the Sunshine State. In 2013, People’s Trust received the Enterprise Florida Governor’s Innovators in Business Award for its pioneering approach. The company’s affiliate, the Rapid Response Team, has 10 Response Centers around the state stocked with millions of dollars’ worth of emergency recovery supplies that can immediately be deployed in the event of a disaster.
“If Florida is hit with a hurricane this season, we’ll be ready,” Bowsher said. “Our ‘Simply a Better Way’ approach means our policyholders will be first in line after a storm for seamless, no-hassle recovery. And Florida certainly recognizes that preparing ahead of time is the key to rapid recovery later.”
