PeopleSpace, International NASA Space Apps 48-hour hackathon, Irvine CA
Irvine, CA (PRWEB) March 22, 2015 -- International Space Apps Challenge is held on April 11-12, 2015 at more than 135 locations worldwide. During this 48-hour hackathon, participants will develop mobile applications, software, hardware, data visualization and platform solutions that could contribute to space exploration missions and help improve life on Earth.
Collaboration, Creativity, and Progressive Innovation
More than 200 data sources, including data sets, services and tools will be available for this challenge. This event brings together techy-savvy citizens, scientists, entrepreneurs, educators, and students to help solve problems and questions relevant to space exploration and broader subjects that impact life on Earth.
Last year’s teams created applications that brought NASA and mobile technology closer together. Some functions brought about by these applications included:
• an SMS powered night sky observation app that tells you when the space station and other satellites are overhead
• interactive calendars that informed astronomers when objects in the sky were visible
• web-based remote control systems for underwater robots.
We can expect to see some exciting innovation and fresh talent at this year’s event.
Let’s Do This!
This year, 35 challenges are Earth themed – representing NASA’s mission to monitor Earth’s vital signs in the areas of Earth studies, space exploration, human health research and robotics.
