PER Educators Offer Guidance to Physicians When No Clear Cut 'Right Answer' Exists During National Continuing Education Conference
Plainsboro, NJ (PRWEB) January 16, 2015 -- Physicians’ Education Resource, LLC (PER®) has been selected to present and today will lead a workshop at one of the nation’s largest gatherings of continuing education experts. The workshop will address ways to help physicians measure outcomes of their efforts to treat cancer patients when there are no clear-cut “right answers,” given the complexity of clinical factors in treating cancer.
PER® is pleased to announce that Phil Talamo, Vice President of Independent Medical Education and Operations, and Ann C. Lichti, CHCP, Director of Accreditation and Compliance, are presenting the workshop, “Measuring Improvements in Physician Knowledge and Competence When No 'Right Answers' Exist: Strategies for CME Veterans” at the 40th Alliance for Continuing Education in the Health Professions (ACEhp) Annual Conference in Grapevine, Texas.
The objective of the workshop aligns with the overall annual conference theme, “Measuring Our Impact: Charting our Course.” The annual conference aims to evaluate the impact of education that accredited providers develop on healthcare providers and ultimately, the patients they serve. ACEhp expects that 1,500 people will attend its annual conference.
“It is a privilege to present a workshop that showcases PER’s approach to designing innovative education and that highlights our leading educational outcomes,” said Talamo. “In developing high-impact continuing medical educational activities, proper evaluation of learners is paramount in assessing the impact of education, especially in the increasingly complex world of oncology. Yet often there is no one ‘correct’ answer in treating cancer patients because so many complex clinical factors can be at play. At PER we use a number of novel approaches to assess our learners to demonstrate the benefits that education brought to their practice. We are excited to share these successful strategies with all of the CME community, so we can all improve the care of cancer patients.”
"Medicine, particularly oncology, relies on a personalized approach, and often times, there aren¹t 'right¹ answers," Lichti added. "This workshop seeks to address this challenge by discussing how the nuances of physicians' clinical decision making have a direct impact on educational outcomes of the education that providers like PER® develop."
For the past 40 years, the ACEhp has been bringing together providers, grantors, accreditation agencies, and other stakeholders of certified/accredited continuing education in the health professions at their flagship conference. Through invited workshops, poster presentations, special interest working groups, and keynote addresses, the ACEhp Annual Conference serves as a think-tank, where leaders in the continuing healthcare education industry share best practices in innovative design, collaboration, and outcomes of education for healthcare professionals.
PER® is honored be part of this preeminent CME industry conference and to continue its support for ACEhp through staff membership and continued volunteer efforts.
