Brentwood, TN (PRWEB) October 26, 2015 -- The 2015 U.S. Capitol Christmas tree, for the first time in its history, will be coming to Washington, D.C. from the majestic state of Alaska. The Chugach National Forest is providing this year’s tree and in partnership with the nonprofit organization, Choose Outdoors, the tree is being brought to the U.S. Capitol with help from more than 40 sponsors – including PermitWizard, an over-dimensional permitting service by LexisNexis® VitalChek Network Inc. PermitWizard is supporting the 2015 U.S. Capitol Christmas tree Tour with in-kind services by ordering all of the over-dimensional permits required to transport this year’s tree more than 4,000 miles from Alaska to Washington, D.C.

The tree will be cut on October 27 and begin its journey with a community celebration in Seward, Alaska before it is prepared for the 4,000-mile expedition – including traveling at sea to arrive in Tacoma, Washington in early November. There will be several community events along the route, scheduled to make stops in Montana, Wyoming, South Dakota, Nebraska, Iowa, Indiana, Ohio and West Virginia before arriving in Washington, D.C. in early December for an official tree lighting ceremony and Congressional Reception. Smaller companion trees also will be provided by the Pacific Northwest Christmas Tree Association to decorate offices inside of the U.S. Capitol building and other sites throughout Washington D.C., along with 4,000 ornaments designed and created by artists and school children across Alaska.
Other associated costs of the tour are paid for in part by the U.S. Forest Service, while costs for the tree's transportation and special events are covered by in-kind services, donations and overall support both locally and nationwide, including Shell Oil, Alaska Airlines, Skybitz, Alaska Railroad, Alaska Crane, Granite Construction Company, Lynden Transport, ReThink Wood, Truckload Carriers Association, Totem Ocean, Hale Trailers and Kenworth Truck Company.
