Personal Injury Attorney David Perecman Weighs in on Woman's Fatal Fall From Six Flags Roller Coaster
New York, New York (PRWEB) July 23, 2013 -- A Texas woman died while riding a roller coaster at the Six Flags Over Texas in Arlington. She fell from the amusement park ride, reported ABC News(7.21.13). The woman’s two children, who were also on the ride, watched their mother fall in an accident that should not have happened, said personal injury lawyer David Perecman, founder of The Perecman Firm in New York.
“I would like to extend my sincerest condolences to the family of the woman who died,” said Perecman. “Tragically, more people are injured or die in roller coaster accidents every year than most would believe."
Some witnesses to the accident believe the woman who died wasn't properly secured. Authorities said no foul play was involved, reported ABC News.
“If amusement park negligence caused this accident, the victim’s family may be entitled to compensation from the owners of the park,” said Perecman.
Identifying the exact cause of a roller coaster accident can be difficult and many times more than one liable party can hold an element of blame. A defect in the roller coaster’s design and-or restraint system could have caused this deadly accident. The ride operator could also be responsible for the coaster accident due to a lack of training, improper training or plain carelessness.
“Park employees are responsible for making sure that safety harnesses are secure,” Perecman added. “A thorough investigation of the design and manufacture of the safety harness is needed in addition to an investigation into the actions and training of the park’s employees. Chances are likely both the park and the harness manufacturer will become defendants if the victim's family chooses to pursue a lawsuit.”
The Texas Giant roller coaster is advertised as the “tallest steel-hybrid coaster in the world.” It is 14 stories high, and has a drop of 79 degrees and a bank of 95 degrees, said ABC News.
