Personality Tests Create More Productive Teams

One popular method of ensuring that teams include a balanced mix of personalities is DISC. According to the DISC model, first developed by clinical researchers in the 1920s, the human personality can be divided into four broad categories or types—Dominant (D), Influencing (I), Steady (S), and Conscientious (C). Within each category are specific traits and behaviors. Dominant personalities are direct, decisive, inclined to take risks. Influencing personalities are outgoing, enthusiastic, optimistic, and persuasive. Steady personalities are supportive, empathetic, and generous. Conscientiousness personalities are organized, precise, cautious, and analytical.
An individual’s DISC personality type is determined by taking a short personality test. From there, teambuilding becomes a straightforward process of selecting at least one person from each personality type for the team.
