Oakland, California (PRWEB) March 18, 2015 -- Northern California's premier pet hotel, Wag Hotels, announced plans last week to open up a fourth pet hotel in Oakland with a #WagHotelsPetSelfie contest, exclusively for cats and dogs. From March 1st to 28th, pet owners are encouraged to submit photos of their pets via the hotel’s contest page and one lucky winner will have his or her face plastered on one of the outside panels of the new Oakland facility. This wall will is over 30ft high with direct exposure to hundreds of thousands of drivers on the 880 freeway near Jack London Square – making the lucky pet famous!
When voting closes on March 28th, everyone that has submitted a photo will receive will receive 1 FREE night in any standard room at the Oakland hotel. On March 31st, all winners will be announced, including the top 10 semifinalists will be announced and each rewarded a $50 Gift Certificate. Additionally, 2nd and 3rd place will be awarded artwork within the new building and 1 week in an Ultra Suite (a 200 sq ft hotel room for dogs), respectively. Wag Hotels will determine these top three winners with a company-wide vote that is closed to the public.
The first place winner will actually become a model for the day and be able to strut his or her stuff on set at a real photoshoot, with renowned Bay Area pet photographer Kira Stackhouse. As a keepsake of this special the pet owner will get copies of the photos and will be able to proudly view their pet’s masterpiece on the outside of Wag Hotels Oakland everyday.
“People are really getting into the contest! We tried to capitalize on the popularity of the selfie movement and the fact that everyone loves dogs and cat photos,” says Christine Lopez, the Event Coordinator at Wag Hotels. “There have already been almost 200 submissions with over 2000 likes on the top pet. Even some famous faces like Chompers the Corgi have made an appearance on the contest.” Wag encourages everyone to share their pets’ contest photo via social media so they can gain votes from family and friends. For pet lovers that need a little cuteness today, the pictures are all available for viewing and voting on Wag Hotels Oakland’s Facebook page.
