Petroleum Equipment Suppliers Association Evolves to Support the Resurgence of Energy Industry
Houston, Texas (PRWEB) October 30, 2014 -- Petroleum Equipment Suppliers Association, an 81-year-old organization representing a diverse global workforce of 1.3 million people, changed its name to Petroleum Equipment & Services Association (PESA). The new name represents a strategic decision by the board of directors to evolve the organization, more fully supporting its membership and PESA’s role in the oil and gas industry.
“As an association with history dating back to 1933, PESA’s board and membership have seen dramatic changes in our industry and could not be more excited for this next evolution,” explained Paul Coppinger, PESA’s chairman of the board. “It is our intent to grow the presence of the association so we can advocate on behalf of our members and our industry, which is an important and powerful part of the U.S. economy.”
PESA launched an action center and enhanced its online presence via social media channels to engage with its members as well as promote and advocate on behalf of the service, supply and manufacturing sector on Facebook, Twitter, Google+ and LinkedIn. “With the upcoming elections, we are working to ensure that our members are informed about the issues facing our industry. The new action center empowers our workforce to add their voice to policy discussions,” said Coppinger.
As part of its evolution, PESA also created a new video showcasing the energy service and supply sector’s resurgence through innovation, and educational content such as The Energy Economy infographic highlighting areas where energy jobs and economic development are at risk due to proposed regulations.
“According to the American Petroleum Institute, the U.S. oil and natural gas industry as a whole has maintained nearly 10 million jobs within the last three years and has accounted for nearly eight percent of domestic activity, helping to reduce our dependence on foreign resources,” said PESA President Leslie Shockley Beyer. “In order to support this growth, our organization has reconfigured itself to further engage our member companies through enhanced educational opportunities and advocacy on key issues.”
