Pharos Diagnostics, a New Tucson Diagnostic Laboratory Receives CLIA Certification
Tucson, Arizona (PRWEB) December 14, 2016 -- Pharos Diagnostics recently earned its license to operate a high-complexity clinical diagnostic laboratory under the guidelines of the Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments, the federal standard for laboratories that perform testing for human diagnostics.
Pharos Diagnostics was formed in early 2016 and built a new laboratory in Tucson to provide mass spectrometer based diagnostic testing services to its customers.
The increasingly complicated testing demands from healthcare professionals and researchers was a primary reason the team created Pharos Diagnostics. Southern Arizona’s unique blend of leading edge healthcare practices, a rapidly growing diagnostic center of excellence, and the academic vigor provided through access to two world class research universities drove Pharos Diagnostics founders to establish their laboratory in Tucson.

One initial focus will be delivering reference laboratory services to existing healthcare providers and CROs (clinical research organizations) who are unable to perform certain types of testing better delivered using mass spectrometry. Much of this testing is currently sent outside the state of Arizona, slowing the turnaround of results and loss of the local revenue base.
