Philadelphia-Area Healthcare Initiative Adds Crozer-Keystone Health System
Springfield, PA (PRWEB) November 21, 2013 -- Crozer-Keystone Health System has joined the Philadelphia-area health alliance formed in July by Abington Health, Aria Health and Einstein Healthcare Network, giving the initiative four members. Crozer-Keystone includes five hospitals with more than 1,000 physicians on their medical staffs.
The initiative is a platform for independent health systems to work together to improve the health of populations through highly coordinated and efficient care. Crozer-Keystone is the first organization to join the alliance since its founding in July 2013.
“Working with other health systems is one of the ways we’re meeting the challenge of reform,” said Joan K. Richards, President and CEO of Crozer-Keystone. “We are eager to join the alliance because we share the same goal of better coordination of the care and service we deliver to our patients, starting with our employees and their dependents.”
“Crozer-Keystone is an excellent fit for our initiative because it shares our commitments to: increasing access to care, making care more coordinated and finding creative ways to continue offering the highest quality of care to our patients,” said Laurence M. Merlis, President and CEO of Abington Health and Chair of the Board of the alliance. “Adding a member like Crozer-Keystone illustrates the strength and attractiveness of our alliance.”
Crozer-Keystone is recognized by national ratings groups for its clinical integration and use of health information technology – two building blocks of providing more coordinated care and service to patients.
Adding Crozer-Keystone expands the footprint of the alliance in the greater Philadelphia region, creating a broader network to ensure that patients have excellent access to care close to home wherever they reside in the region. The alliance’s network will begin by covering the more than 39,000 employees and dependents of the four members with the goal of expanding its scope of service in the future.
Crozer-Keystone will be a full and equal partner with the three founding members of the alliance, committing to invest the same amount in the initiative and having the same presence on its governing board.
