Philadelphia Car Accident Lawyer at Flager & Associates Comments on Report about Dangerous Intersections
(PRWEB) July 30, 2014 -- Philadelphia car accident attorney Randall Flager of Flager & Associates today said a recent news article identifying the top 10 intersections for car crashes should serve as a warning to all drivers to be extra cautious when traveling through these areas.
Flager today commented on a July 10 article in NBC10.com that ranked the city’s most notorious intersections. According to the story, seven out of 10 of the most dangerous intersections in the city can be found along Roosevelt Boulevard. The most dangerous intersection, however, is in the Fishtown neighborhood at Delaware Avenue & Frankford Avenue, which had 29 accidents in the first half of 2014, according to the article. That location is just outside the entrance to SugarHouse Casino, according to the story.
“Any intersection can be dangerous for drivers and pedestrians,” Flager said. “Collisions tend to occur at intersections more frequently than on sections of the roadway where there are no stop signs or traffic lights. Intersection collisions often happen because a driver runs a red light or fails to yield the right of way to another motorist, pedestrian or bicyclist. That’s why it’s extremely important for drivers to use caution at any intersection, but be especially careful when driving through these intersections that are deemed ‘the most dangerous.’”
According to NBC10.com, the top 10 list is based on data from the Philadelphia Police Department. The following is the full list of the most dangerous intersections in Philadelphia with the number of vehicular crashes between Jan. 1, 2014, and June 15, 2014, according to NBC10.com:
1. Delaware Avenue & Frankford Avenue: 29
2. North 9th Street & Roosevelt Boulevard: 23
3. Roosevelt Boulevard & Fox Street: 22
4. Grant Avenue & Roosevelt Boulevard: 22
5. Lincoln Drive & Gypsy Lane: 21
6. Harbison Avenue & Roosevelt Boulevard: 21
7. 26th Street & Penrose Avenue: 20
8. Roosevelt Boulevard & Ridge Avenue: 19
9. Roosevelt Boulevard & Adams Avenue: 19
10. Red Lion Road & Roosevelt Boulevard: 18
Flager said the types of intersection accident injury claims his law firm has handled cover a wide range, including rear-end collisions, head-on crashes, T-bone or broadside accidents and more. He said drivers who are careless or reckless in and around intersections pose a serious danger to others on the road.
“Many of these accidents involve a negligent driver who is speeding, drunk driving or distracted by a cellphone or something else,” Flager said. “People injured in intersection accidents often face long-term medical bills. They’re often forced to miss work for an extended period of time. The financial burdens can be overwhelming. Our goal is to help people through these difficult times. We work hard to get them the compensation they need to move on with their lives.”
