Philadelphia Non-profits Join to Expand Opportunities
Langhorne, PA (PRWEB) June 26, 2014 -- Woods and Tabor Family Services, two prominent regional not-for-profit human services organizations, have entered into an affiliation agreement with Tabor functioning as an affiliated subsidiary of Woods.
This partnership brings together organizations with a history dating over 100 years each of providing innovative and high-quality supports and services for individuals and their families. The tenet at the center of their missions is providing people with the supports they need for self-determination, independence and a fulfilling life.
Tabor has been meeting the needs of children, young adults, and families at-risk, as well as providing early education and daycare services in Southeastern Pennsylvania since 1907. More than 600 children and families are supported annually by Tabor through a wide range of available programs focusing on early childhood education, prevention, in-home placement, adolescent services, mental health and adoption.
Tabor possesses a long-standing track record of transforming to meet the needs of those they serve throughout Southeastern PA by: giving children and families a voice to drive services; building safety and trust; linking individuals to local resources; securing permanency to provide security to children; enhancing the development of children and youth; and continuously measuring their quality of care in all program areas.
Woods and its affiliates provide educational, residential, health care, clinical and vocational supports and services to more than 4,000 people of all ages and levels of care that drives greater achievement for individuals. Philadelphia schoolteacher Mollie Woods founded Woods in 1913 as a progressive residential school for children diagnosed with intellectual disabilities. Woods is located in Langhorne, Pa and its affiliates, Brian’s House, Archway Programs and Allies, Inc., are located in Chester County, Pa and throughout New Jersey, respectively.

Tabor’s expertise in areas such as child welfare will enable Woods to enhance and expand our continuum of services. In 2013, a Tabor joint venture, Tabor Northern Community Partners (TNCP), was selected as a community umbrella agency (CUA) in Philadelphia. A CUA is a Philadelphia Department of Human Services initiative to strengthen the child welfare services in order to improve outcomes for families and children. TNCP is responsible for providing direct case management services for families who live in one of 10 regions in Philadelphia.
